At the opening, the traditional cord to be cut was replaced by a tape from an old cassette. This was a symbolic action picturing the fast pacing development of the Media industry.
Chief Commisioner Schjelderup stated in his speech that he is optimistic to what Mediekuben can bring to the media industry.
– We hope and believe that the work that will be done here will show great results for the city, the region, the country and globally in the years to come, Schjelderup said.
International speakers
The opening day also presented speeches from two well-known international innovation actors.
Mads Thimmer, CEO and co-founder of Innovation Lab, gave the audience insights to developing media technology and to the future of the Media industry.
Silicon Valley-based Juan Carlos Velten held a speech about digital branding and how to build a strong position in an increasingly diversified industry. Velton has an MBA from Harvard Business School and studied together with Elon Musk, among others.
The official opening of Mediekuben was a part of the OPP Innovation Week – an exciting week filled with activities highlighting innovation in the Bergen region.
