The media industry is characterized by rapid technological development, and the opportunities for emerging companies have never been greater. Meanwhile the established media companies struggle with their business models, where new technology and constantly changing user habits threatens the income of enterprise. The social media giants have taken over large parts of the advertising, and companies impose new strategies for their media economy.
Based on this the media industry in Bergen have established Media City Bergen (MCB), where all the big media companies in the capital of Western Norway will be localized. In addition to TV2, Bergens Tidene, Bergensavisen og NRK, the tech companies Vizrt, Vimond and Wolftech is moving in. On a worldwide basis this collaboration creates a unique media cluster.
To start as early as possible, we already have a media incubator in place at Bergen Teknonologioverføring premises at Marineholmen. The name is Media Startup Light, a pilot project that will provide knowledge of great value before moving in to the environment in Media City Bergen.
Media Startup Light consist of 8 – 10 office spaces in two smaller landscapes related to our office at Marineholmen. Here you can already access to much of the same resources that will be offered in Media Startup. In our environment you will become part of a community which counts nearly 70 start-up companies. And you will find the needed access to meeting rooms, technology infrastructure, and last but not least the value inherent in networking with other entrepreneurs.

Media Startup Light is both for entrepreneurs who have either started, or those wishing to start a new business in the media sector. The start-ups will access consultancy, network contacts and knowledge that will add great value in the process of develop a new business. In addition, the start-ups will be offered to join the Media City when the office space is ready in August/September 2017.
There are already several new companies as a result of the media cluster, and with the co-location in Media City Bergen even more power is expected behind the innovation work.
