Narrowing the gap between students and the established innovation community in Bergen

Early Stage is an entrepreneur simulator for students in Bergen, with the objective to give potential entrepreneurs a safe arena to experience, try and fail. 30 students will get the chance to join the program. Are you one of them?

From sketch to product

Early Stage Bergen is all about testing the market potential for an idea as fast as possible. The students will be placed in teams with five students. Each group will be allocated a budget, a mentor, a gathering place and weekly challenges for the next eight weeks. Together the group shall take an idea from sketch to product, and try to confirm that the product solves a real problem for a customer segment.

– We founded Early Stage to narrow the gap between the students and the established innovation community in Bergen. In addition, students with entrepreneurial ambitions will gain practical experience and the opportunity to fail and learn in a simulated program. The goal is to better prepare our participants for success in future startup activities, says Christer Dalsbøe, one of the founders of Early Stage Bergen.

Mentors from BTO

The objective of Early Stage Bergen is to give potential entrepreneurs a safe arena to experience, try and fail. A part of the course is to understand that the fastest way for an entrepreneur to learn is to fail. These experiences can make you successful in the future.

– We do not believe that good entrepreneurs can be created in a classroom. Therefore, Early Stage will mix interdisciplinary teams, experienced mentors, the Lean Startup methodology and professional expertise from our partners. This combination will provide the participants with invaluable experience, says Dalsbøe.

BTO is together with Impact Hub Bergen collaborators for the program, and contributes with business developers and project support.

The first gathering will be on Friday 2. September, and the program will continue for the following eight weeks.
