One2Touch SlimType draws attention worldwide

Regular phone covers have one mission - to protect your phone. One2Touch has gone from protection to interaction with their new smart cover. The SlimType is the first smartphone Near Field Communication (NFC) cover with a keyboard.

One2Touch has drawn a lot of attention lately, and during the CES 2016 the SlimType was presented as «The ‘World’s Smartest Keyboard Cover». The product was also mentioned as one of the best mobile accessories during the event.

The QWERTY keyboard supplements the asset of protection, and makes it ideal for reading and responding to mail and messages, as well as taking notes during a meeting. It is wireless and since it does not contain any batteries, it needs no charging. With no battery, the design is super slim. The smart cover does not use unnecessary space, and should fit nicely in a pocket or purse.

– The beginning of the vast possibilities enabled by NFC

One2Touch is an embedded hardware and software engineering services company specializing in Near Field Communication (NFC). Their new product uses NFC in a whole new way.

We believe NFC technologies can give mobile devices the power to go far beyond the basic tap-and-go mobile wallet services, said Nils Knagenhjelm, VP Strategic Alliances, One2Touch during an interview with Business Wire earlier this year in Palo Alto, California.

The product can be used on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Knagenhjelm believes the smart cover is only one of many exciting products based on NFC technology being launched in the coming years.

– The SlimType smartphone cover with keyboard is the beginning of the vast possibilities enabled by NFC. We’re extremely proud to push the envelope on how NFC is used to bring about exciting new ways for consumers to work and create with their smartphones, said Nils Knagenhjelm during the same interview with Business Wire.

Innovation from Haukeland University Hospital

The One2Touch adventure started in 2005 when Torbjørn Aasen, chief engineer and researcher at Haukeland University Hospital, read about the new NFC technology. He found it both interesting and promising, and started to develop the idea of the world’s first wireless keyboard without need for charging or battery replacement. BTO was in charge of the business development process, which led to the establishment of the company One2Touch AS in 2009. Aasen is today a shareholder in the company.
