The brand new competition is called NMD Start-up, and is a pitching competition for start-ups and entrepreneurs with ideas for an innovative media product, service or technology.
The eight selected participants will present their idea in front of a judging panel and a live audience.
This is an exciting opportunity for start-ups to create international attention for their innovation, and to meet prospective investors and buyers. The winner is awarded with a valuable and unique toolbox for companies in the start-up phase.
Not the same procedure as last year
The Nordic Media festival is held once a year, and it is the largest and most prominent assembly for media companies in the Nordic region. More than 1,800 participants and over 100 speakers will meet in Bergen on 1-4 May 2018.
At this year’s conference you will meet an exciting line-up of speakers:
- Brad Parscale – the man behind the Trump 2020 campaign – will talk about how data can be used to target voters.
- Rebecca Corbet is the editor who published the story on Harvey Weinstein’s decades of abuse, and with that kicked off the #metoo- campaign
- Alexandra Borchardt from Reuters institute at Oxford University will present new research in her talk about the changes in the newsroom

NMD Start-up is a unique opportunity to reach a wide audience and make international connections.
The event is a collaboration between Sparebanken Vest, Norwegian Media Business Association, Innovation Norway, Hordaland County Council, PwC, Bergen Teknologioverføring and Nordic Media Festival.
NMD Start-up pitching competition is held on May 3 and applications will be open until April 12.
