VIS has the collaborative skills that is needed so that the Western Norway’s ecosystem for innovation and growth can have width, focus and ambition. Our business developers and consultants provide relevant advice, links different environments, implements projects, and allows you to use our extensive expertise.

VIS is the new name for Bergen Technology Transfer Office (BTO), which was established in 2004. VIS is an acronym for Vestlandets Innovasjonsselskap AS. VIS carries with it both wisdom and a call to showcase good ideas and value-creation.
VIS is owned by the University of Bergen, Haukeland University Hospital, the Institute of Marine Research, Siva, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and NHH Norwegian Business School. In addition, we have several research partners: NORCE (Christian Michelsen Research / Uni Research), Haraldsplass Diaconal Hospital, Helse Fonna, Sogn og Fjordane Knowledge Park, Nofima and Sjukehusapoteka Vest.
Together, the institutions have 4000 research full-time equivalents and a research base of 5 billion NOK. Researchers, scientific staff and students from these institutions give VIS over 100 innovative ideas each year – width a wide range of exciting fields.
