eMeistring enhances services offered to people with mental illnesses. Supervised online treatment can reach new groups of patients who would otherwise have a high threshold for seeking help, and thus supports the goal of increasing access to effective health services. It may also increase the processing power of each therapist. Altogether, this increases the availability of knowledge-based services for people with mental illnesses.
Supervised online treatment contains the same elements as traditional cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with a treater in a policlinic, and is based on research. The treatment is modular and lasts up to 14 weeks. Every week you will follow directions from one treater who guides you through the treatment via the internet.
To receive the treatment you must be over 18 years old, and your family doctor must refer you to one of the polyclinics in Helse Bergen in the normal manner.
The project has received funding from Helse Vest, and 10 mNOK from the Health Department over three years to develop and test the programme.
We are open to any academic collaboration and requests from hospitals that would like to consider using this treatment method.
