Innovasjonsuken OPP aiming for new heights

Last year’s innovation week OPP was a great success with people flocking to the many events in the region. This year the organizer is aiming for even more participants as the week kicks off with a marine profile.

The first ever Innovasjonsuken OPP in 2017 was a crowd-puller with more than 3000 sign-ups for the 71 different events. This year the organizers are aiming even higher.

The ambition is at least as many events as last year, but with a higher number of participants. I think that is possible as there are a lot of different initiatives materializing as we speak. The events are getting bigger, more professional and with a broader spectre of hosts. I am very pleased that a lot of new organisations are joining our festival this year, says Hans Fredrik Hag, Project Manager of OPP.

OPP aims to inspire people to explore the possibilities within innovation and entrepreneurship. During ten days (14th to 23rd September), scientists, entrepreneurs, representatives from industry, students, designers, government officials and investors will participate in events related to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Something for everyone

Blue is certainly the colour of this year’s OPP as there are several ocean related events.

– Our region has world leading companies and research institutions within the marine sector. The pace of innovation in the industry is strong as both big and small business are working hard to create new solutions keeping Norway in the forefront. OPP wants to celebrate the great initiatives and hard work, says Hag and continues:

– But OPP is not only about marine sector. If you take a look at our rich calendar, you will find great diversity. The topics includes everything from new leadership, design thinking, different on-point courses and workshops, investments, visualization, mediatechnology, food and adventures and artificial intelligence. Our ambition is to show all types of different aspect of the innovation ecosystem in the region, Hag says.

BTO is a vital OPP partner

Innovasjonuken OPP is important for BTO as it is a great possibility to showcase and highlight the important work we do together with our owners and partners to make the regions ecosystem grow stronger every day.

– In BTO, we think it is of great importance for the region that research institutions, industry, government, investors and entrepreneurs meet and collaborate. Bergen is in a unique position to become the leading region within innovation and entrepreneurship, and OPP will contribute to create a competitive advantage for the region, says Anders Haugland, Managing Director of BTO.

BTO is one of the initiators and is responsible for the coordination of OPP. In addition to supporting the project, we contribute with hosting several events during the week. We encourage everyone interested in innovation and entrepreneurship to take a look at the Innovasjonsuken OPP calendar.

You can follow the seminar “Brukermedvirkning i innovasjon og helseforskning“.

The Innovation Week OPP is developed based on voluntary work and a common interest for highlighting all the great value added generated in our region. The actors cooperating on creating a common meeting point are BTO, DNB, Innovation Norway, Hordaland County Council and Bergen Municipality.

–We are also happy to have SIVA onboard for 2018. This is as part of their 50 years anniversary of building industry in Norway. What better way to celebrate this, than joining OPP, Hag finishes.
