The Minister of Local Government and Modernisation visited BTO

Jan Tore Sanner (H), the Norwegian Minister of Local Government and Modernisation, visited Bergen Teknologioverføring today. The visit was a part of his trip to Western Norway where he meets with start-ups and entrepreneurs in the region. At BTO, Mr. Sanner was introduced to our new concept Makerspace, and the start-ups Sensario, Seasmart and Bergen Robotics.

During “The Technology Tour 2017” the minister is visiting technology companies, innovation environments and workplaces going through a readjustment process all over Norway. His visit to Bergen and Western Norway the 30th and 31st of May is a part of this tour. The topic for the trip to Western Norway is entrepreneurship, making use of technology in a smart way, readjustment of the working life and social entrepreneurship.

– If we are to succeed with strengthening existing companies and creating new jobs then Norway needs to be in front when it comes to the technological development and the use of technology. Now I am meeting with and learning from great entrepreneurs and innovators in Western Norway, says the Minister of Local Government and Modernisation Jan Tore Sanner.

During his visit at BTO, the minister was introduced to three companies from our incubation environment: Sensario, Seasmart and Bergen Robotics. He also got to know more about the innovative environment at Marineholmen, and he was curious about BTO and the entrepreneurs staying here.

Makerspace Marineholmen is our new prototype workshop at Marineholmen, and Hilde Indresøvde, BTO’s General Manager of Incubation and Acceleration, introduced Mr. Sanner to the new concept.

CEO of Sensario, Paal Kaperdal, explained and demonstrated how their technology works, including 3D printing of their prototype in Makerspace Marineholmen. Bergen Robotics explained how their drone with extraordinary technology functions. The minister got a closer look at the drone and the great camera technology in use.The minister also met Andreas Morland from Seasmart, who showed him their innovative sea drone.

Mr. Sanner seemed impressed by the innovative entrepreneurs from Nyskapingsparken and Ocean Industries Accelerator (OIA), and their go-ahead spirit.
