Each fall the Global Entrepreneurship Week is hosted in 160 different countries, with 20.000 partners and 35.000 events all over the world. Ten million people participate, which helps highlighting the important part innovation and entrepreneurship play in today’s society.
This year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) will take place from 11th to 20th of November. Different institutions in Bergen will host information meetings, seminars, workshops and lectures on topics related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The week is a celebration of innovators and aims to inspire people to explore the possibilities innovation will lead to. Events all over the world aim to connect entrepreneurs, collaborators and investors. GEW is thus a great place if you have a good idea you want to discuss, if you want to learn more about specific topics or just being curious and want to learn more about innovation. This will be the biggest innovation event of the year in Bergen, and we encourage you to hold the dates!
Anders Haugland, Managing Director of BTO, express his expectations for GEW Bergen.
– At BTO we are excited about GEW and we are looking forward to the week. We hope as many as possible will support this great initiative, where the goal is to highlight the exciting innovation taking place in the Bergen region, he says.
Cooperation between innovation institutions
BTO will organise several events as one of the partners of GEW.
– One of the things we want to focus on is innovation in big established companies. Therefore, we plan to invite to Corporate Innovation Day, which will gather representatives from the big companies in Bergen. In addition, our incubator Nyskapningsparken plans to host a workshop in Lean Startup methodology. We will also arrange “Join a Startup”, where potential employees and partners will get in touch with startups, says Haugland.
GEW Bergen will be hosted in cooperation between six different institutions this year. BTO, Hordaland County Council, DnB, Innovation Norway, Business Region Bergen and Startup Bergen are contributing in order to make the week exciting and inspiring. GEW Bergen is coordinated by BTO, and the project leader is Hans Fredrik Hag.
GEW Bergen was established in order to gather events on innovation to the same week, which helps focus on and increase the visibility of entrepreneurship in the Bergen region. The purpose of the week is to gather everyone who finds entrepreneurship and innovation exciting. Both private actors, different companies, public institutions, students, entrepreneurs and investors will contribute with different events throughout the week. One of the main goals for the week is to give people the opportunity to get to know new environments better, and the events will therefore cover all types of businesses.
GEW Bergen will encourage actors, companies or organizations to seize the opportunity to organize their own event under this umbrella. GEW Bergen will do their best to create awareness on the different events and of course the topic itself – Entrepreneurship!
