The centre will do studies and research on closed aquaculture facilities, fish health and technological solutions. The University of Bergen, Uni Research, NTNU and 14 companies from the aquaculture industry and supplier industry will contribute. The purpose of the Centres for Research-based Innovation (SFI) is to build up and strengthen Norwegian research groups that work in close collaboration with partners from innovative industry and innovative public enterprises.
Nofima, the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research, is one of Europe’s largest institutes for applied research within the fields of fisheries, aquaculture and food. Nofima carries out internationally recognised research and develops solutions that provide a competitive edge throughout the value chain. The head office is located in Tromsø, and the research divisions are located in Bergen, Sunndalsøra, Stavanger, Tromsø and Ås. In Bergen, Nofima has the BioLab, the Feed Technology Centre and several scientists within fish nutrition and feed technology.
