Aftenposten: Incorrect mix up of ME and the symptom fatigue prevents research

Unfortunate circumstances has led to patients with the distinct nevro-immune disease Myalgisk Encephamyelitis (ME) is incorrectly mixed up with the term Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) which more or less exclusively is based on the symptom exhaustion. The consequence is that research on ME is almost eliminated from public budgets for several decades. Lars Th. Narvestad refers to the small but excellent Ributimax-study by the cancer doctors at Haukeland University Hospital last fall, which now needs NOK11 million to complete a large study. – It is no coincidence that ME still is an inexplicable disease, Narvestad says.
